The Lowdown
The Supanova Comic and Gaming Convention at Sydney Showground is a comprehensive event that appeals to a wide audience, from serious gamers and comic enthusiasts to those who simply enjoy pop culture.
It caters to fans of comics, sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming, providing a diverse array of activities ranging from panels and signings to cosplay and gaming competitions.
Event Highlights:
- Celebrity Guests: Meet notable figures from popular comics, movies, TV shows, and games. These sessions often feature actors, authors, and artists known for their contributions to pop culture.
- Panels and Q&A Sessions: Creators and actors share their experiences and insights into their careers and the entertainment industry.
- Cosplay Competitions: Either participate in or watch the cosplay competition, a central feature of the convention where attendees dress as their favourite characters. Prizes are given for standout costumes.
- Gaming Zone: Enter the gaming area that includes the latest video games and classic arcade games. You can join in tournaments or play casually with others.
- Merchandise Stalls: Explore a variety of merchandise such as comic books, collectibles, clothing, and artwork, providing a great opportunity to find unique items or new reading material.
- Artist Alley: See works from both local and international artists who offer original art, prints, and custom pieces, making it a good spot to support independent artists and buy unique creations.
- Workshops: Led by industry professionals, workshops cover a range of topics from creating comics to cosplay crafting and insights into the gaming industry.
- Photo Ops: Have your picture taken with your favourite celebrities, a special keepsake from the convention.
- Exclusive Screenings and Reveals: View trailers for upcoming movies and TV shows, along with demos and announcements of new video games.
Getting There: We’ll travel by bus from Johnny’s Place. Shuttle bus transport is available to and from Johnny’s Place.
What to Bring: Comfortable shoes, hat, backpack and water bottle.
Price includes lunch and snacks, other personal expenses are not included.
Pricing & Inclusions
- The Participant price covers the cost of food/drinks as outlined in the activity description and any entry/activity costs.
- The NDIS price includes support and return transport from Johnnys Place.
- Bookings close one day before the activity unless sold out prior.

Shuttles
Johnny H Nepean Shuttles will be available for this event, simply just choose your transport option when booking. Shuttle time and cost will be calculated according to your pick up / drop off point. The cost of the shuttle service is not included in the published predicted NDIS cost. More information about our shuttle service can be found here.
Please note:
* This event is designed for active participants with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability.
* This event will be conducted in compliance with COVID safe practices and any vaccination requirements as outlined by the NSW Department of Health.
* Johnny H can only accept booking requests from those whose NDIS funds are Self or Plan Managed. If your plan is Agency Managed, please call 1300 053 001 to discuss your options.
* Funding will be calculated based on the final attendance numbers and the individual support required to increase the capacity of the individual making the booking to match the rest of the group.
* We predict and aim for a ratio of 1:3 for community-based activities and for those held inside Johnny’s Place, at the rate set out in the current NDIS price guide.
* Final ratios will fall between 1:2 and 1:5.
