Communicating in the Workplace
Welcome to “Communicating in the Workplace”. This unit focuses on empowering clients with learning and development disabilities to enhance their communication skills, preparing them for success in the workplace. Through targeted learning experiences, participants will develop the necessary abilities to effectively interact with others verbally, non-verbally, and in writing, enabling them to follow instructions and engage in meaningful dialogue in various work settings.
What to Expect
Talking and Listening: Cultivate active listening skills and learn the art of engaging in productive conversations.
Verbal Communication: Develop clarity and confidence in verbal expression, conveying ideas and information effectively.
Non-verbal Communication: Understand the importance of body language, facial expressions, and gestures in communication, and learn to use them appropriately.
Asking Questions: Learn to ask questions effectively to seek clarification, gather information, and engage in meaningful dialogue.
Conversation Skills: Enhance conversational abilities, including initiating and maintaining conversations, active listening, and responding appropriately.
Written Communication: Gain proficiency in written communication, including composing emails, reports, and other workplace documents with clarity and professionalism.
Expressing Opinions: Develop assertiveness in expressing opinions and viewpoints respectfully and constructively.
Difficult Conversations: Learn strategies for navigating challenging conversations with professionalism, empathy, and tact, addressing sensitive issues or conflicts constructively.
By enrolling in this course, individuals with learning and development disabilities will gain invaluable skills and knowledge to enhance their communication abilities in the workplace. With a focus on verbal, non-verbal, and written communication, as well as the capacity to navigate difficult conversations, participants will be better equipped to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, and supervisors, ultimately increasing their employability and success in securing and maintaining employment opportunities.
All clients attending U-Learn will need to bring in their own prepared food for breaks including a lunch meal unless indicated when booking your space.

* This event is designed for active participants with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability.
* This event will be conducted in compliance with COVID safe practices and any vaccination requirements as outlined by the NSW Department of Health.
* Johnny H can only accept booking requests from those whose NDIS funds are Self or Plan Managed. If your plan is Agency Managed, please call 1300 053 001 to discuss your options.
Pricing & Inclusions
The NDIS price covers all 11 weeks of the course and will be arranged through a Program of Supports.
Bookings close 3 days before the activity unless sold out prior.
