Welcome to “Keeping a Job,” a comprehensive learning programme tailored to empower individuals with learning and development disabilities with essential workplace communication and interaction skills. Through this course, participants will cultivate behaviours and competencies crucial for workplace success, including effective verbal and written communication, active listening, and navigating challenging conversations.

What You Will learn

Talking and Listening: Develop effective communication skills by honing both speaking and listening abilities, fostering clear and meaningful interactions with colleagues and supervisors.

Verbal Communication: Enhance clarity and confidence in verbal expression, enabling effective communication of ideas, instructions, and feedback in the workplace.

Non-verbal Communication: Understand the significance of body language, gestures, and facial expressions in communication, and learn to utilise non-verbal cues to convey messages effectively.

Asking Questions: Master the art of asking questions to seek clarification, gather information, and engage in constructive dialogue with colleagues and supervisors.

Conversation Skills: Build conversational fluency by initiating and maintaining engaging discussions, demonstrating active listening, and adapting communication styles as needed.

Written Communication: Develop proficiency in written communication, including composing emails, reports, and other workplace documents with clarity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Expressing Opinions: Learn to express opinions and viewpoints assertively and respectfully, contributing to discussions and decision-making processes in the workplace.

Difficult Conversations: Acquire strategies and techniques for navigating difficult conversations with professionalism, empathy, and tact, resolving conflicts and addressing sensitive issues constructively.

All clients attending U-Learn will need to bring in their own prepared food for breaks including a lunch meal unless indicated when booking your space.

Johnny H Nepean Shuttles will not be available for this event. If transport is required please speak to your local region directly.

Please note:

* This event is designed for active participants with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability.
* This event will be conducted in compliance with COVID safe practices and any vaccination requirements as outlined by the NSW Department of Health.
* Johnny H can only accept booking requests from those whose NDIS funds are Self or Plan Managed. If your plan is Agency Managed, please call 1300 053 001 to discuss your options.

Pricing & Inclusions

The NDIS price shown is based on July 2023 pricing. This price will be adjusted based on revised July 2024 pricing once available.

The NDIS price covers all 9 weeks of the course and will be arranged through a Program of Supports.

Bookings close 3 days before the activity unless sold out prior.
