Wednesday – Travel Training and Community Access

Wednesdays are dedicated to developing real-world independence through travel training and supported community access. These sessions help participants build confidence, problem-solving skills and social awareness in public environments.

Morning Focus
Participants learn the fundamentals of travel training, including how to read public transport timetables, plan safe journeys, and navigate different modes of transport. The focus is on building knowledge, safety awareness and decision-making skills that support independent travel.

Afternoon Focus
The group puts learning into practice with a supported community outing. Whether it’s catching a bus, planning a walking route or visiting a local venue, these experiences help participants gain confidence in navigating the community, interacting with others and managing daily activities outside the home.

Benefits of Attending Wednesdays

  • Develop skills for safe and independent travel

  • Increase confidence navigating public transport and community settings

  • Strengthen communication and problem-solving in real-world scenarios

  • Promote independence and community participation in line with NDIS goals

Who is this for?
The Life Skills Day Program is designed for people aged 16 and over with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability. Working within a small group and led by an experienced facilitator, Johnny H Life Skills supports both school leavers and adults to build the capacity and skills needed for everyday living and increased community participation.

We do our best to minimise any changes but plans may be forced to change due to external staffing, school holiday programming and adverse weather.
