Monday – Master the Kitchen

Start the week by building confidence in the kitchen. Monday is all about learning practical cooking skills that support everyday independence.

Morning Focus
Participants take part in hands-on cooking sessions where they learn how to follow recipes, prepare ingredients, and use kitchen equipment safely. Nutrition and hygiene are key themes throughout the session.

Afternoon Focus
In the afternoon, participants head out to shop for ingredients. This includes planning a shopping list, handling money, comparing prices, reading labels, and navigating the supermarket. The goal is to build real-world independence through everyday tasks.

Who is this for?
The Life Skills Day Program is designed for people aged 16 and over with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability. Working within a small group and led by an experienced facilitator, Johnny H Life Skills supports both school leavers and adults to build the capacity and skills needed for everyday living and increased community participation.

We do our best to minimise any changes, but plans may vary due to staffing, school holiday programming, or adverse weather.

Pricing & Inclusions

The participant price covers the cost of morning tea and lunch.

The NDIS price includes support.

Bookings can be made at any time during the term.

Shuttles

Johnny H Canberra Shuttles will be available for this event, simply just choose your transport option when booking. Shuttle time and cost will be calculated according to your pick up / drop off point. The cost of the shuttle service is not included in the published predicted NDIS cost. Please note:

* This event is designed for active participants with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability.
* Johnny H can only accept booking requests from those whose NDIS funds are Self or Plan Managed. If your plan is Agency Managed, please call 1300 053 001 to discuss your options.
* Funding will be calculated based on the final attendance numbers and the individual support required to increase the capacity of the individual making the booking to that required to actively participate in this event.
* We predict and aim for a ratio of 1:3, which will be invoiced at the rate set out in the current NDIS price guide.
* Final ratios will fall between 1:2 and 1:5.
