Monday: Decision Making & Problem Solving

Morning – Decision Making

Start the week by strengthening your decision-making skills. Learn how to make choices when faced with a range of possibilities, and explore different approaches to making decisions at work. You’ll also reflect on the outcomes of your choices and consider how to apply these lessons in future situations.

Afternoon – Problem Solving

In the afternoon, focus on problem-solving. Build the skills to recognise both routine and unexpected challenges, explore practical steps to address them, and work towards achieving workplace objectives. You’ll also practise reviewing the outcomes of solutions to improve your approach next time.

Benefits & Outcomes:

  • Gain confidence in making informed choices

  • Learn strategies to solve problems effectively

  • Build resilience in handling unexpected challenges

  • Develop reflective skills to improve decision-making and problem-solving in the future

Who is this for?

The Johnny H Work Readiness Program is designed for people aged 16 and over who are looking to build the skills, confidence and independence needed to prepare for meaningful employment.

This program is ideal for school leavers with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability who want to explore different job pathways, develop real-world skills, and gain a better understanding of work environments.

Sessions run in small, supportive groups and are tailored to meet individual learning needs. Whether you’re just beginning to think about work or already have some experience, this program helps you grow your capacity and take the next steps at your own pace.

Note: Activities in this unit may be adapted to meet individual needs. Accommodations, such as 1:1 support, working with peers, and additional time, can be arranged to ensure a supportive and accessible learning experience.

We do our best to minimise any changes but plans may be forced to change due to external staffing, school holiday programming and adverse weather.
