Monday – Life Skills: Kitchen Skills and Safety
Mondays focus on building confidence in the kitchen by teaching practical safety skills, safe use of equipment and good habits that support independent living.
Morning Focus
The morning session introduces participants to core kitchen skills. This includes identifying common kitchen tools, learning how to handle equipment safely, understanding safe work areas and practising simple tasks such as washing produce, using chopping boards correctly and managing basic hygiene routines. The aim is to build familiarity and confidence in a calm, supportive environment.
Afternoon Focus
The afternoon continues with guided activities that reinforce safety and routine. Participants may practise setting up a safe workspace, using appliances under supervision, following visual instructions or learning how to clean and pack away equipment. Sessions are paced to individual needs and encourage teamwork, communication and the development of consistent kitchen habits.
PM Alternative: Community Walk
On selected weeks, the group may take part in a local community walk. This offers time outdoors, gentle exercise and an opportunity to build social confidence in a relaxed setting.
