The Lowdown
Learn and develop new skills within a small supportive group on this Independent Living Experience with Johnny H based out of ‘The Farm’, our dedicated accommodation in western Sydney.
An Independent Living Experience involves a short trip away within a small group where we build the skills, confidence and motivation needed to be self-sufficient in our daily lives. Over the 4 days and 3 nights away our small group will work through a checklist of activities and tasks designed to build independence within a safe and encouraging environment. We will also enjoy social group interaction through a range of supported activities.
What to Expect
Thursday 22/8: Depart Johnny’s Place in Canberra at 12 noon. Travel to The Farm in western Sydney. On arrival we will prepare our rooms, make dinner and get settled for our stay.
Friday 23/8: Day out exploring the Blue Mountains, including Scenic World.
Saturday 24/8: We’ll join up with the local Johnny H group for a day at Penrith Show.
Sunday 25/8: We’ll spend our morning on The Farm tending the garden and patting the horse, before lunch and travel back to Johnny’s Place by 3pm.

Spaces are limited to allow the group leader to provide personalised care and attention to each person and the group as a whole.
In a nutshell:
- 4 days, 3 nights
- Location will be one of our properties in the area
- Small group of up to 4 people plus support persons
- Support ratio of 1:2
- No participant cost
- Weekend activities will be as a small group BUT WILL ALSO INCLUDE SELECT JOHNNY H ACTIVITIES
- Travel, accommodation, meals, activities and support included in price
- Funded from STA Core Funding based on final group ratio
Bookings close one week before the activity unless sold out prior.

Please note:
* This event is designed for active participants with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability.
* This event will be conducted in compliance with COVID safe practices and any vaccination requirements as outlined by the Department of Health.
* Johnny H can accept booking requests from those whose NDIS funds are Self or Plan Managed as well as Agency Managed. Please call 1300 053 001 to discuss your options.
* Ratios will fall between 1:2 and 1:5.
