Our Tuesday program focuses on personal growth and teamwork. In the morning, Independent Me helps clients build essential life skills to manage work, relationships, and daily responsibilities with confidence. In the afternoon, My Groups explores teamwork, communication, and the roles we play in group settings. A perfect balance of self-development and collaboration to support independence and social success.

Independent Me

The objective of this unit is to empower clients with the knowledge and skills to build on their core life skills, enabling them to manage work, relationships, and daily life with confidence and independence. This course will support clients in developing essential skills for personal growth, self-management, and navigating life’s challenges.

What You Will Learn

Everyday Decision-Making: Learn to make informed choices that promote independence, from daily routines to long-term planning.

Self-Advocacy and Confidence: Develop the confidence to express your needs, make decisions, and advocate for yourself in various situations.

Managing Responsibilities: Understand how to balance work, personal life, and responsibilities effectively.

Money Management: Gain essential budgeting skills to manage personal finances, plan for expenses, and make smart financial decisions.

Healthy Living and Wellbeing: Explore strategies for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including nutrition, exercise, and self-care.

Building and Maintaining Relationships: Learn how to establish and nurture positive relationships in personal, social, and professional settings.

Problem-Solving and Resilience: Develop problem-solving skills to handle everyday challenges and build resilience in the face of obstacles.

Planning for the Future: Set personal goals and create action plans to achieve independence in different areas of life.

Afternoon Session: My Groups

The objective of this unit is to provide opportunities for clients to develop knowledge and understanding of groups in society, what it means to be part of a group, and the role of working as part of a team. Activities will focus on understanding group dynamics, roles in teams, and effective communication in group settings.

What You Will Learn

  • Understanding Groups in Society: Explore different types of groups and their roles in communities and workplaces.
  • Being Part of a Team: Learn what it means to contribute to a group, recognising individual strengths and responsibilities.
  • Group Communication Skills: Develop effective communication strategies for teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Roles and Responsibilities in Teams: Understand different roles within a team and how to contribute positively.
  • Conflict Resolution in Groups: Learn how to navigate disagreements and work through challenges in a team setting.
  • Teamwork Activities: Participate in interactive exercises that build teamwork, cooperation, and leadership skills.

Note: Activities in this unit may be adapted to meet individual needs. Accommodations, such as 1:1 support, working with peers, and additional time, can be arranged to ensure a supportive and accessible learning experience.

All clients attending this unit are required to bring prepared food for breaks, including lunch, unless otherwise noted when booking.

* This event is designed for active participants with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability.
* This event will be conducted in compliance with COVID safe practices and any vaccination requirements as outlined by the NSW Department of Health.
* Johnny H can only accept booking requests from those whose NDIS funds are Self or Plan Managed. If your plan is Agency Managed, please call 1300 053 001 to discuss your options.

Pricing & Inclusions

The NDIS price will be updated when the new price guide is released in July 2025.

The NDIS price covers the duration of the term and will be arranged through a Program of Supports.

Participants can bring their own lunch or enjoy a meal prepared in-house for a small fee.
