Prepare for Work & Working With Others
Morning – Prepare for Work
Start the week by building the practical skills needed to enter the workforce. You’ll explore what employers look for, including workplace ethics, professionalism and how to present yourself confidently. Learn about probation periods, performance reviews and what to expect from work experience opportunities.
You’ll also develop job-seeking skills such as writing a resume, completing job applications and preparing for interviews. Sessions include guidance on “dressing for success” and presenting yourself in a way that makes a strong first impression.
Afternoon – Working With Others
In the afternoon, focus on building strong workplace relationships. You’ll learn how to work effectively with others by identifying positive behaviours such as teamwork, respect and communication.
You’ll also explore challenges such as conflict, negative behaviours and workplace boundaries. Through discussions and activities, you’ll understand how policies and procedures help protect workers from bullying, harassment and discrimination, and how constructive feedback can support personal growth.

Who is this for?
The Johnny H Work Readiness Program is designed for people aged 16 and over who are looking to build the skills, confidence and independence needed to prepare for meaningful employment.
This program is ideal for school leavers with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability who want to explore different job pathways, develop real-world skills, and gain a better understanding of work environments.
Sessions run in small, supportive groups and are tailored to meet individual learning needs. Whether you’re just beginning to think about work or already have some experience, this program helps you grow your capacity and take the next steps at your own pace.
We do our best to minimise any changes but plans may be forced to change due to external staffing, school holiday programming and adverse weather.
