Fridays: Exploring Jobs

On Fridays, clients will engage in Exploring Jobs, a unit designed to provide insight into a variety of industries and the roles within them. The focus will be on helping clients understand the requirements of different job types and exploring how their personal skills align with opportunities in sectors such as hospitality, retail, and warehousing.

The objective of this unit is to provide clients with knowledge about various industries, helping them identify roles that suit their skills and interests. This includes an overview of key industries and the specific attributes that contribute to success within them.

What You Will Learn

Different Industries and Jobs: Clients will learn about a range of industries, including hospitality, retail, and warehousing, and the job opportunities within each.

Comparing Individual Skill Sets and Interests to Jobs: Understand how personal skills and preferences can be matched with job roles in various sectors.

Hospitality Industry: Explore the roles in the hospitality industry, such as customer service, food and beverage, and hotel management.

Retail Industry: Gain insight into retail job roles, from sales assistants to management positions.

Manufacturing and Warehousing: Learn about the skills required for roles in manufacturing and warehousing, including logistics and inventory control.

Guest Speakers and Site Visits: Clients will have the opportunity to hear from industry professionals and visit workplaces to gain firsthand experience of different job environments.

Why Attend

This unit will help clients understand the range of roles available in various industries and assess where their skills and interests might fit. With the knowledge gained from guest speakers, site visits, and practical activities, clients will be better prepared to make informed decisions about their future careers.

Note: Activities may be adapted to meet individual needs, with accommodations such as 1:1 support, peer collaboration, and additional time as required.

All clients attending Work Readiness are required to bring prepared food for breaks, including lunch, unless otherwise noted when booking.

* This event is designed for active participants with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability.
* This event will be conducted in compliance with COVID safe practices and any vaccination requirements as outlined by the NSW Department of Health.
* Johnny H can only accept booking requests from those whose NDIS funds are Self or Plan Managed. If your plan is Agency Managed, please call 1300 053 001 to discuss your options.

Pricing & Inclusions

The NDIS price shown is based on July 2023 pricing. This price will be adjusted based on revised July 2024 pricing once available.

The NDIS price covers all 11 weeks of the course and will be arranged through a Program of Supports.

Bookings close 3 days before the activity unless sold out prior.
