The objective of this unit is to provide opportunities for clients to build skills and knowledge related to workplace environments. Through this course, clients will explore the reasons people work, gain insights into various industries and occupations, and identify their own skills and strengths. They will also learn to set personal goals to guide their journey into the workforce.

Prepare for Work

The objective of this unit is to provide opportunities for clients to build skills and knowledge related to workplace environments. Through this course, clients will explore the reasons people work, gain insights into various industries and occupations, and identify their own skills and strengths. They will also learn to set personal goals to guide their journey into the workforce.

What You Will Learn

Why Do We Work: Examine the reasons behind working, understanding the personal and societal benefits it brings.

Types and Variety of Work: Discover the range of work options available, from paid roles to volunteer positions and self-employment.

Exploring Different Industries: Gain knowledge about various industries and career paths, expanding awareness of employment possibilities.

Personal Skills and Strengths: Recognise and celebrate your unique qualities, skills, and attributes that make you an asset to any workplace.

Setting Workplace Goals: Learn to set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals, creating a clear path for future development.

Employability Skills: Develop key employability skills to prepare for the demands of a professional environment, including time management and organisation.

My Unique Self: Reflect on what makes you unique, building self-confidence to approach work opportunities with a positive outlook.

Time Management: Master time management techniques to enhance productivity and reliability in a workplace setting.

Workplace Visits and Guest Speakers: Experience firsthand insights from industry professionals and learn about real-world work environments.

Note: Activities in this unit may be adapted to meet individual needs. Accommodations, such as 1:1 support, working with peers, and allowing more time, can be arranged to ensure a supportive and accessible learning experience.

All clients attending Work Readiness are required to bring prepared food for breaks, including lunch, unless otherwise noted when booking.

* This event is designed for active participants with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability.
* This event will be conducted in compliance with COVID safe practices and any vaccination requirements as outlined by the NSW Department of Health.
* Johnny H can only accept booking requests from those whose NDIS funds are Self or Plan Managed. If your plan is Agency Managed, please call 1300 053 001 to discuss your options.

Pricing & Inclusions

The NDIS price shown is based on July 2023 pricing. This price will be adjusted based on revised July 2024 pricing once available.

The NDIS price covers all 11 weeks of the course and will be arranged through a Program of Supports.

Bookings close 3 days before the activity unless sold out prior.
