Self Awareness & The World of Work
On Tuesdays, clients will focus on two foundational areas essential for personal growth and workplace readiness. In the morning, the Self Awareness unit will help clients build self-confidence and gain insight into their own strengths and aspirations. In the afternoon, The World of Work unit will develop practical skills and knowledge to navigate different employment environments.
Morning Session – Self Awareness
The aim of this unit is to provide clients with opportunities to deepen their understanding of their personal interests, aspirations, strengths, and areas for improvement, fostering self-confidence and self-esteem.
What You Will Learn
Understanding Self and Others: Discover the importance of self-awareness and learn to identify and share your interests, aspirations, strengths, and concerns.
Understanding Emotions: Identify a range of emotions and learn appropriate methods for responding to them.
Managing Emotions: Develop strategies to manage feelings and emotions in a constructive way.
Developing Resilience: Build resilience by reflecting on self-regulation techniques and learning effective coping strategies.
Growth/Fixed Mindset: Understand the concepts of growth and fixed mindsets and how adopting a growth mindset can support personal and professional development.
Afternoon Session – The World of Work
The objective of this unit is to help clients gain essential skills and knowledge related to workplace environments, preparing them to pursue different work opportunities and maintain professionalism.
What You Will Learn
Employability Skills: Understand the concept of employability skills, why they are essential, and which skills are currently being developed.
My Unique Self: Recognise your unique strengths and how they contribute to workplace success.
Time Management: Learn about the importance of time management and how it affects job performance, employability, and retention.
Dealing with Anxiety and Negative Thoughts: Develop skills to manage anxiety, overcome self-sabotaging thoughts, and build a positive mindset.
Professionalism: Differentiate between professional and unprofessional behaviours and traits in the workplace.
Personal Presentation: Recognise the need for high standards of personal hygiene and appearance in professional settings.
Workplace Visits and Guest Speakers: Gain exposure to different work environments and insights from professionals through workplace visits and guest speakers.

Note: Activities may be adapted to meet individual needs, with accommodations such as 1:1 support, peer collaboration, and additional time as required.
All clients attending Work Readiness are required to bring prepared food for breaks, including lunch, unless otherwise noted when booking.

* This event is designed for active participants with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability.
* This event will be conducted in compliance with COVID safe practices and any vaccination requirements as outlined by the NSW Department of Health.
* Johnny H can only accept booking requests from those whose NDIS funds are Self or Plan Managed. If your plan is Agency Managed, please call 1300 053 001 to discuss your options.
Pricing & Inclusions
The NDIS price shown is based on July 2023 pricing. This price will be adjusted based on revised July 2024 pricing once available.
The NDIS price covers all 11 weeks of the course and will be arranged through a Program of Supports.
Bookings close 3 days before the activity unless sold out prior.
